Puntland State of Somalia declares drought emergency (March 15, 2019)

After the failure of consecutive rainy seasons, the Puntland Federal State of Somalia declares a state of emergency after the drought struck the rain dependent nomads and appeals for international help.

Puntland State of Somalia Gets a New President (Jan. 2019)

     Puntland Federal State of Somalia held a peaceful election which brought President Said Abdullahi Deni to power. Sixty-six MPs representing the regions of Puntland State of Somalia elected the new president to lead the federal State for the next five years

                            The Present Somali Political Crisis (Sept, 2017)
Somalia is in a political crisis after the government handover of Colonel Qalbidhagax, an ONLF colonel, to Ethiopia. ONLF is splinter group of the Ogaden Liberation Front which once fought Ethiopia to carve off the Somali inhabited areas. The present crisis might lead to the downfall of the current weak Somali government and unprecedented chaos.


 Somali Drought Played Havoc (Jan. 2017)
The Somali drought played havoc on the very core of the Somali economy – the livestock. The Somali nomads whose life depends on the produce of their animals lost more than half  of their livestock. The unstable Somali government could not come the rescue of the victims. Local NGOs like Shafshafo is overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation. Shafshafo sent teams to scrutinize and assess the situation.
 

The Failure of the yet another seasonal rain (October 2016)
The spring failed to pour. This marks the third seasonal rain failing. The nomads whose life directly depends on the dairy products of their livestock are in danger. Still worse, the nomads cannot move to areas where meager seasonal rains fell

                                             
 Shafshafo distributes food aid

(March 2015)
Shafshafo Relief and Rehabilitation distributes food to the needy in Galkaio. The food items consists of sugar, rice, dates, tea leaves, cooking oil and meat. The beneficiaries were mainly needy families, orphaned children, war-widowed mothers and the handicapped. These were the most vulnerable of the Galkaio community.
